There would be nobody else beyond ourselves to trade with, nobody to discover, share technology with, wage war with (bad idea, probably) or anything else that you could do with another species.

I know what he means. He means the Universe will end and be recreated, and the exact same thing will happen as last cycle.

That would suck, yet not be so bad. You would make all of your mistakes again, yet you would live your greatest moments over and over as well.
