Author Topic: Buying a dirt bike. Need some suggestions.  (Read 511 times)

Okay guys, I've been bored. So I've been looking at dirt bikes lately, so I can get to places faster than riding a bike.
 I need some suggestions.
Price range: Under 1,000
Torque: Doesn't matter, as long as it's legal
Brand: Honda, Yamaha, Toyota. Something along that line.
Seller: Anything but eBay, Or Amazon. Preferably a trusted seller.
I'm looking for a dirt bike. Not a pocket rocket.
I'm about 4'9, and I don't weigh that much. I thought this may help.
Suggest.

It's illegal to ride a bike with a motor in it on sidewalks/road without licenses

I know that. All I have to do is get it registered.
If I'm not old enough, I'll just buy a pocket rocket. But not a stupid razor one.

Yamaha are the best value for money IMO

I've only rid a cheap little 100cc Yamaha, and 100cc Toyota
Yamaha was much easier to handle

I still ended up on my arse though.

All right. I don't think I'm old enough to register dirt bike. I have been looking at this RX1 Mini though.

Buy or don't buy?

It's illegal to ride dirt bikes on roads. You need turn signals, a license plate, and depending on the state, a windshield. None of which a dirtbike has.

Okay. I think minis are not required to have blinkers, horns, license plates.
So is the RX1 a good buy?

Everything is required to have blinkers and license plates.

I live in an area with a lot of conservative Mennonites and their buggies have blinkers and license plates. If you want to drive it on the road, you have to have a license plate and blinkers. Not to mention a motorcycle license.

Even just to ride it down the street, or around the neighbor hood?
Also, does it have to have turn signals? Half of the people I see don't use there blinkers, and do you have to pay for registration?
