It's for fun, which you obviously do not understand. They don't do it to "look cool," either. It's because participating in something as ridiculous as a fad where everyone has a cow or slug or cookie monster can be fun.

Changing an avatar is about as fun as setting a desktop background, only you're just doing it because everyone else is.

I'm a grey area because I don't have an official cow nor was mine made after cow fad. :c

I had this avatar about a week before that Bionicle thread even started. I wanted a change from the barrel rolling ship, and I had just changed my steam avatar from Ratchet to this, so I figured I might as well change my forum avatar to Kopaka as well.

And right now, I'm noticing a bunch of "HOPE RIDES ALONE" avatars for some reason.
If I'm right, it's because A.R.C changed his avatar to such when he left.
Regulith also changed his when he left.

And A.R.C and Regulith both being so well-known and having high-post counts, and therefore being easily seen, means that people see them and imitate.
Not to mention, people would often copy A.R.C anyhow, as was shown in the Sheep/Square topic.


If there was something in the world that I could turn into a human being and torture it to the point of horrible death, it would be these loving stupid avatar fads.
