You get like studio mics for that price (lower end market, anyway).

Me and my brother have been deciding to put our money together to get one of these mics, because I want to get into voice acting (Don't ask) and my brother sings and wants to record his voice. I really wouldn't recommend getting a gaming mic for that much though unless it's for combined purposes. If you are sure though however, I can recommend either the Shure-58 (dynamic mic XLR) or the CO1U by a company I forget (Condenser XLR or USB).

There's a difference from "over-priced stuff" and regular stuff you purchase from Wal-mart. The things that are overpriced cost so much for a reason, you're usually paying for quality.

For lecture, my voice, which is too soft anyway, now gets to the back of the room even when I'm facing the White-Board to draw diagrams as I talk.

Practically weightless, one can even tweek the curve of the flexible boom to wear it on either ear.

Plugged right into our Sennheiser gear with quality as good as our Sennheiser lavalier mic.

The beige one is nearly invisible when worn (by me).

That's incorrect much too often.
Those gold-plated and all those other "advantages" that the $200 or more HDMI cables have, don't change anything from a normal $10-20 one.
