Author Topic: Future Timeline + When you're gonna die = coolio  (Read 559 times)

Based on the Future Timeline thread from yesterday, and from the When are you going to die thread, I thought it would be cool to have a little thread to post what's going to be invented/going to happen the year you die.

Hyper-intelligent computers

Due to Moore's Law, $1000 of computing power is now equivalent to a billion Earth's worth of human brains.*

A laptop-sized computer of today can perform the equivalent of all human thought over the last ten thousand years in less than ten microseconds.

Technology is progressing so fast that - in order for people to comprehend it - neural upgrades are becoming necessary on a regular basis.

Because consolidating two threads that are less than 24 hours old is quite the necessity... まほ~

1992 + 70 = 2062

2060 - Global mass migrations of refugees | Flood barriers erected in New York | Global extinction rates are peaking | An ageing population | Mining operations on the Moon

2061 - Halley's Comet returns | UK population reaches 80 million

2062 - Nanofabricators enter the consumer market

2064 - IT's share of the US economy reaches 20%

2065 - Longevity treatments that can halt aging | Self-assembling buildings made entirely from nanotech | Invisibility suits are in military use | Insurance crCIA

2067 - Male and female salaries are reaching parity

2068 - A major landmark in the world of athletics

2069 - 100th anniversary of Apollo 11 | US population reaches half a billion

Because consolidating two threads that are less than 24 hours old is quite the necessity...

What would you have suggested then? I saw a relevance between the topics, and I would end up derailing the topic or getting ignored if I posted this idea in either of the other threads. Plus, for people who didn't see the other threads, this is like a whole new one. I don't see anything wrong with it, so why just jump in here and criticize me.

Oh, and cool stuff VH. Interesting, huh? Even though the death calculator isn't accurate, it's still kinda cool.

What the forget happened to the link in the op?

Fixed, idk, it wasn't forgeted up when I posted it...but I lol'd.
