When a 4 byte integer reaches it's maximum (+2147483647) it rolls around to -2147483647. Since the game time is in milliseconds, 2147483647 milliseconds is the maximum server playtime. When the server gets this many milliseconds old, 24.8 day bug occurs (2147483647 milliseconds is roughly 24.8 days).

Because many of the game's systems rely on the sim time, this screws a lot of things up.

Some time ago some guy was asking what the new version patched (which was supposed to assimilate the people who were using the auto-character create script, or something like that) and someone popped up and said the 24.8 bug.
