Author Topic: 3DS Max to Torque [We need better documentation]  (Read 2060 times)

In all honesty, torque needs a better documentation on this.
3DS max, although it is superior compared to Milkshape 3D, there's hardly any documentation on exporting models there to a DTS.
I'm aware there are exporters, but none of them seem to work properly, [And are dated by like, 2007-8], so, are there any decent tutorials on the process of exporting from 3Ds Max to a DTS?

There is atleast one working guide that has been posted here. I remember having the exact same problems, and I think kaje or someone posted a guide for me. I had a working exporter up until a month ago (formatted computer).

3DS Max to Torque is quite easy though only Max 06-07 I believe can export to Blockland, the newer versions of max can only export to newer versions of the Torque Engine. If 3DS Max 2010 did export to Blockland I'd to a stuff ton of tuts etc.

Right now, i have 3DS Max 2010 [Student edition, but hey, it was cheaper, it has great documentation on exporting things and other tutorials, but i can't make profit off it, though], so that may probably not be a good thing.

That explains it then, I'm using 06

Solution: Use Blender.

Just export the model to Milkshape or Blender and follow a tutorial for one of those programs.
Aren't those export options?

Or am I thinking of Wings3D?

You should ask on garagegames.

The only guy on there that has a working max2010 dts 24 exporter is making people pay for it.

We get that you like blender, but don't be a rooster.

He's not asking about a blender, he's asking about 3ds max. If you're going to keep quoting yourself in response to our discussion, don't post here.

Just as a followup post; the starfish that was trying to make people buy his exporter has reopened his public file system. The file system contains most of the exporters.

There is a working max 2010 exporter on there (tested it yesterday)

Everything else you need to know to export is located in several pdf's in the file system. If you can't find them, you're not smart enough to be using max anyway.
