 tl;dr

A group of people use Philosophy to question immortality.
Then they apply Darwin's theory of Evolution and suggest that Humans will achieve a 'God' like state
millions of years from now and will be able to move and play with space. 
To be immune to everything, and having your body produce its own energy without the need to feed.

 
This, ladies and gentlemen is a fauteuil.
It's a sitting chair with exposed wooden frames. It was very popular during the 18th century.
It was heavily decorated with ornaments and had engraved shapes and symbols on the frames.


I didn't read it but from your summary, it doesn't seem like anything special. I've always thought that, given enough time people would be god- like. I've also taken that and applied it to the old gods of polytheistic religions. I actually think that all those gods did, in fact, exist but were just super advanced beings from another world.
