I got a mac today and it wont work.

So everyone in my class got a mac computer today to work on in school (We do take it with us home)
Everything worked fine until like half an hour ago when I first couldn't click anything and then of all sudden the screen went black and the mouse was a spinning ball.
It won't do a stuff and I can't restart it.

Should I just wait until it's out of power or can i somehow fix it?
