99 Players On Dedicated Server Not Working?

When pacnet made his dedicated server for a deathrun this morning,
he typed this into his console: $pref::Server::maxplayers=99;
He then typed it into his chat.
It didn't work.
Even i have the problem

Is there something not allowing dedicated servers to edit $prefs

The problem is you need a space so the equal sign doesn't touch any thing. Like so: $Pref::Server::Maxplayers = 99;
