So, I'm planning on getting a good quality bike for commuting.

I'm not talking about "ooh look at my sickass BMX bike" or "ooh look at my fat bike with huge nobby tires that i can ride through dirt with"

I'm talking about a strong, durable bike, with regular tires, that is simple, that is lightweight and that is efficient and comfortable for riding every day around town to get stuff done until I have a car.

So far, I'm down to two bikes, built by this new company called Everyday Bicycles.

Now, I'm narrowed down to two bikes.

The Everyday "Traveller"

The Everyday "Kitsilano"

I'm also buying a rear rack for the bike to put a backpack on, and a light on the front so I can see at night.

Which do you think I should buy? Details are in the links.

Derpdiscuss.

I like the Kitsilano, but if you want to get around places at a decent speed with decent comfort look at Specialty Bikes. Since I'm a big person I ride an XL Specialty bike build for durability and road performance. Goes fast.

Don't go too cheap on bikes, the cheaper the bike the stufftier the bike in pretty much any case. You'll end up spending more on repairs than on the bike itself eventually.

At the moment I can't afford anything higher than $200. I know it may be stuffty but I tested the bike out already at Canadian Tire and it seems like it's good quality.

Wow I somehow read this as "Dancing between bikes."
God I need sleep.

No.

Using a mountain bike for everyday use is like buying a cheap monster truck and driving it around a city. It's a waste of energy, it's not reliable.

When you use a mountain bike on the road, 90% of the energy you put into the bike gets lost in the huge, giant heavy frame, the digusting massive suspension, the massive ugly and uncomfortable knobby tires and the seat that you can't raise enough so that it's comfortable.
