If you get a mac, you wont be able to play every game available unless you get a bootcamp for your mac.

Blockland has a mac version though.

When my computer totally died, I made an Ubuntu pendrive and started my computer with that.  Dumb best buy told me all my files were already gone, but when I used the pendrive, I had full access to all the files on my computer.  I don't think Ubuntu will be able to repair your windows OS, but being able to use your computer in the meantime is better than nothing.
