Author Topic: question about case fans?  (Read 521 times)

I'm at the final stages of building my computer, and all I'm doing is hooking up the chassis fans to the PSU.

There's only so many fan pins on my motherboard, and from what I see I'd need a fan controller which I'm not going to go buy right now.

Is there ANY downside to plugging the molex connectors on my HAF 932 X Coolermaster Case directly onto the PSU?

I understand they will run at 100% constantly, will that damage them?

Probably not.  If you're unsure, trial and error is the process of building a computer.

Do you run your case fans on 100%?

I run all 5 of my case fans at 100%, but most motherboards have a fan controller plug and most chassis fans come with that connection.

it wont be a problem. obviously its not ideal, but until you get a fan controller it'll be fine. it wont damage them.

I'm not really sure.  I'll check.

ive run fans like that before. not a big deal if the sound dont bother you.

most time i turn them up anyways. so it dont matter

I usually have my headset on anyway. And I always buy quieter fans.
