Author Topic: Quick question about terrain.  (Read 867 times)

So Im trying to create a mountain landscape but Im not very sure how to go about it.
Should I just go for a cubescape? Or is there some other way to go about this?

Depends how you go about the cubescape

I do cubescape with grass on top of the cubes and different colors via elevation

Thats what I was planning on doing.
Just wondering if I should put some smaller blocks inbetween the 4x4's and such.

Sure, but dont whore it by putting them on every block, just as a touch up

I usually do cubescape, then use ramps for small valley like things.

For terrain I usually use 8x8 cubescape and add in 4x4 cubes if I get around to it.

Cube scape with 4x4's is by far the most efficient way to make a cubescape. Larger bricks, unlike 2x2's, will create a lot less lag and you will have your server up faster than before.

I don't recommend ramps because it just make the terrain look very spammy (some examples are in Badspot's block party).

I think you just have a crappy computer, my friend.

use the terrain editor

You obviously don't know how to make ramp terrain.

Why, yes I do. I'm planning on getting a new one though.

I don't use ramps in terrain builds. Just my opinion that they look spammy.

I find that ramps strewn in with plates/bricks looks smashing if done right. Takes way more effort than cubescapes and has almost no benefit in the long run other than looking a tad bit more interesting and diverse.

I dislike all ramp terrain though. Unless it's for caves but even then it has a limit.
