Paint.net Grid backround (PLEASE HELP)

            No flaming im new to paint.net

so i found a tutorial on the internet for making decals with paint.net:

                                 Problems:

1.I tried it but the decal didnt show up in add ons Folder

2. In discription it said that you have to have a gray 'n white grid or else the picture decal wont come out right. i dont know how to get the grid





Please help me and no flaimng since im new to decals

Go to layers, add new layer, then click on that layer, click the properties button on the very left of the layers window, then make opacity to 0 or a really low number.

Save the face as a PNG or it won't come out right.
