Wait, what? So I've been looking into autism and handicapation and from what I've read, it can't simply be found before birth. It's not as simple as that. I believe you guys are confusing down syndrome with handicapation in general. While down syndrome is a cause of handicapation, it's not the only cause.
Time to quote wikipeda. Sorry for page strech people im gonna try and copy and paste small parts.
Downs syndrome.Down syndrome is a chromosomal condition characterized by the presence of an extra copy of genetic material on the 21st chromosome, either in whole (trisomy 21) or part (such as due to translocations). The effects and extent of the extra copy vary greatly among people, depending on genetic history, and pure chance. The incidence of Down syndrome is estimated at 1 per 733 births, although it is statistically more common with older parents (both mothers and fathers) due to increased mutagenic exposures upon some older parents' reproductive cells.
Mental handicapation.Mental handicapation (MR) is a generalized disorder appearing before adulthood, characterized by significantly impaired cognitive functioning and deficits in two or more adaptive behaviors. It has historically been defined as an Intelligence Quotient score under 70.[1] Once focused almost entirely on cognition, the definition now includes both a component relating to mental functioning and one relating to individuals' functional skills in their environment. As a result, a person with a below-average intelligence quotient (BAIQ) may not be considered mentally handicapped.Children with mental handicapation may learn to sit up, to crawl, or to walk later than other children, or they may learn to talk later.[3] Both adults and children with mental handicapation may also exhibit some or all of the following characteristics:[3]
Delays in oral language development
Deficits in memory skills
Difficulty learning social rules
Difficulty with problem solving skills
Delays in the development of adaptive behaviors such as self-help or self-care skills
Lack of social inhibitors.
That's all for tonight folks hope you had a good one.
