Author Topic: Sketchup to Blender problems  (Read 732 times)

I exported my knife model from Sketchup as a .dae file, and imported it into Blender, but it always goes way over behind the camera, nowhere near it. The model in sketchup

The model in blender

It comes in, but it goes exactly where it isn't supposed to be..

This could be because the model in Sketchup is not centered, or perhaps it's the .dae filetype (though I wouldn't know why it would be the filetype, you could try .obj format as an alternative).

You could always just center the model in Blender.

I can't really export a .obj from Sketchup, and centering the model doesn't help, cause it only moves a single part

I have the same issue. Is there a function to position the model in the center of the plane?

Google Sketchup is no good for exporting models to Blender. It uses the wrong version of COLLADA to import the .dae file. Sketchup uses a different version of COLLADA.

If you're going to use SketchUp and Blender together you should be able to figure it out yourself. Resize and move it over. I learned how to make something in SketchUp and import it on my own.
