Author Topic: Graphics card questions... Again  (Read 935 times)

I'm looking at a graphics card on newegg(shocker there? I've had like 4 gpu topics lol), and I found this one and it looks good to me, so I'm asking for everyone's opinions.

current specs are:
AMD Athlon II x4 635 - Quad core 2.9ghz
~6gb of ram
430w Thermaltake PSU (May upgrade if needed)
nVidia GeForce 8400GS - 512mb vram(?)
and that's the important stuff I believe

I don't expect to play every game on max settings but I want more than what my current card can give me. also the free game sweetens what appears to be a good deal to me. Also I would say that $175 is my limit for cards, seeing as i need to buy a new mouse, headset w/ mic, and maybe keyboard.

Discuss/suggest

For an extra 20 dollars a 460 is a lot better

It doesn't have the... whatever it's called output I need. Can't remember the name of it :|
Though I could possibly buy another HDMI cable for it but iunno

460s come with two DVI ports and a mini HDMI port, and also two DVI to VGA adapters and a mini HDMI to HDMI cable.

It comes with a DVI to VGA adapter, this shouldn't be a problem.

Bump. I would also need to buy a new PSU for that, and I don't really know PSUs so can I get a good recommendation under $75 that can support this card?

I'm at $175 from the gpu and a new mouse, and I don't want to go far above $250 before shipping.

Why not purchase an ATI/AMD graphics card? You get more bang for your buck.

That psu should be good enough.

It will? My last PSU fried because it didn't meet the requirements, but that may have been lower wattage.
