Author Topic: I Finally Did It - Time Offset  (Read 626 times)

I finally got the Time Offset to actually match my local time. I would always use "Auto Detect", but the time displayed on the forums would always still be off no matter what. I have just come to realize that the Time Offset can also be in decimal form, so I set it to 1.278 and now it is perfectly synced up.

But I'm guessing most, if not, all of you, already knew this and I'm just slow.

I set it to my GMT thing, and posts are still 20 minutes behind for me. Weird thing is sometimes they don't seem to be 20 minutes behind... How do I calculate the exact sync decimal I need? D:

I just used Auto Detect, then add .1 each time I got closer. (Subtract depending wether or not you are getting closer or not). To determine how exact I was, I would look at my Windows 7 Clock, note the time and seconds, then refresh and test the new forum settings and see how close it was. If you want to get it exact like me, you will probably have to use a larger decimal than say, 1.5 for example, I had to go into the thousandths.

Uh... that method doesn't work. Posts are static, so you can't know the time it was posted for sure... The current time is forum not you... I'm confused.

Edit: 1.278 seems to work for me, too, based off this post.

The forum time is displayed under your username and amount of personal messages. The time displayed there should match your local time.

The time someone posts is what time they posted relative to you, to give they idea we are all in the same timezone. That way, no one thinks someone else has a time machine :P

-1.72 is as close as I can get, it's still ~10 seconds off. I had it set to -1.8 before. =P

Try going into the thousandths, I did since it bothered me not being exact.

The - counts as a digit. I can't go any further. :c

Well that sucks.
