And the fact that in BF3 you can kill someone with two pistol shots in the chest, while in CoD games it takes three magazines worth of bullets.

That's actually pretty realistic. Even a single blow to the chest with a 9mm would have a large chance of puncturing your lung/diaphragm. The second shot was added because a single shot to the chest, while severely injuring you, would likely not kill you.
