Author Topic: Just had to give my kitten a bath (I feel like an ass)  (Read 907 times)

Well, I just finished washing my poor little kitten a bath.  Now, before any of you start flaming me for animal abuse, let me explain something.  She has been covered in fleas since the day we adopted her.  We have tried flea powder and it failed, since we couldn't think of anything else we called the vet hoping we could avoid giving her a flea bath.  He couldn't think of anything and said that a flea bath is our only option for this.  So, about 20 minutes ago, I filled the sink with warm water and took her over to it.  As soon as she saw the water, she freaked out and started crying at me to try and get me to stop.  Now, the fleas are hopefully dying, my cat is trying to finish drying herself off while throwing mean looks at me, and I feel like an ass for having to do that to my cat.
What should I do?

Isn't it normal to bathe cats every couple of months? Or can they really lick themselves that clean?

YOU WASHED A CAT?

HOW COULD YOU?!

Give your cat a bit of time alone, like a day or so

Then try spending time with her and hopefully it should be all good

Cats do this all the time when you bathe them, I haven't given a cat a bath but I sometimes hear their screams when they are bathed

I'm glad she's only a kitten, I wouldn't be able to do it if she was able to scream about it while I pour soap and water all over her, I just love animals too much to do that.

We have to bathe our Guinea Pigs about once a month. They usually take it pretty well, but they by no means enjoy it. :(

Cats like to be clean, but they don't want to have their fur drenched in water and then having to wait for it to dry

Don't feel bad, it had to be done and the kitten will get over it.

of course cats dont like water but once you wrap them up in tons of towels they get sleepy and fall asleep

Cats lick themselves up a LOT in order to be clean.  Some to more of a degree than others.

One of my kittens cleans himself so much and even cleans the other kitty.

if I touch my cat shortly after she's done cleaning herself she'll lick the spot I touched and start to reclean her whole body

YOU CRUEL BEING! YOU CARED FOR YOUR CAT, HOW COULD YOU?

No seriously, you did the right thing. Don't feel bad.

My cat knows ill give it a bath one way or another, so it just takes it(the bath).
