pick one

My computer is being a meany poo-poo face acting strange, and I want to see if I have a virus, of it's a hardware issue.

So, it needs to be completely free. Nothing like "WOW BUY PRO AND GET AWESOME THING LOL"
Just straight forward virus-protection.

Vista Antivirus 2012
I use Avast. I never really do anything where it needs to work, but apparently it's a good free one.

Avast has an upgraded version but it still has free antivirus and stuff.
And it doesn't bug you about it constantly or anything.

Impossible. Save money and buy it yourself.

Quoted for moron.

Unlike games, there are some good antiviruses.

However sometimes people call them good because they don't go on researcho websites 24/7, so they are less likely to get a virus, so they think the antivirus is doing a good job when it does not even work.

That, is the second side of the discussion. The ones listed above (Avast, AVG) are good ones. Alternatively you can also try Avira.

I go on research websites all the time and never get a virus with or without an antivirus. :P

My friend tells me Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes are good when you have them both.

Microsoft Security Essentials

Use hijackthis, and if you have a USB Drive, transfer it into the computer that has a virus and see if you can clean it out.

avast! or Microsoft Security Essentials.
