Author Topic: Steam and iOS is a bitch (iPod)  (Read 1386 times)

Oh look steam works just fine on iOS at least 5.0.1 that is because my iPhone is a newer generation and I am guessing OP's ipod is a 2nd generation or lower or he is just incredibly stupid on how to plug into a computer with itunes and update its OS.

Nope a certain version of iPod doesn't let a work. (Hardware not Software)

You meant Software not hardware.  Hardware is what is inside the ipod/iphone, software is the version of iOS.

Yes the HARDWARE of the iPod doesn't let it work. (Just like Minecraft/Steam won't work on mine)

i personally have no idea how to update my iOS without it saying something about deleting my apps, and i don't really care

jailbreaking = bad

its actually awesome

let's see now I've got a cloning app, a duplicating app, an object multiplying app, and ultimate evil on my iPod

oh and now GLaDOS wakes me up in the morning

instead of paying so much money for an iPod just so you can jailbreak it, just get a loving Android device

i have version 2.4.1 which is the most up to date version on gen 2

As has been previously stated in this topic and in general, the Steam app isn't compatible with that version of iOS. The Steam app requires iOS 4.0 or above, the only devices that are supported by iOS 4.0 and above are the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 3rd generation, iPod touch 4th generation, and iPad.

To avoid this problem in the future, be sure to check compatibility between your device and apps you want to download.

looks suspiciously over 4.0

You have a 2nd generation iPod touch. The Steam app is not compatible with any generation of iPod touch below 3.

K, you said:

I now realize that this was a typo on your part, you meant to say 4.2.1. The Steam app doesn't care if you have a version of iOS over 4.0 if your device is 2nd generation or below.
