If you restarted your modem, it should have reassigned it a new IP address and the attack should have stopped.

At which point, remove him from skype so he can't call you and trace your IP using wireshark, and then you're safe.

Well basically, I was on a friend of a friend's Minecraft server yesterday. They were being asshats, punching builders, destroying beds, griefing and stealing. I left that night kindof annoyed. I came on today and decided to get some revenge. I destroyed the offender's house, stole his stuff, and burned the remains. Then I left. He adds me on Skype today and says, and I quote; "ok well you get free ban and complementary ddos. hmm. you may all of the sudden croshe"

A few seconds later my web browser stopped responding, aswell did my mothers. Skype went offline and so I reset our internet modem. I really don't know much about this so if anyone could provide some information on how to prevent it from happening again, or maybe how to get back at him.

either get an IP block for them or tell your ISP they are attacking you

they will possibly get banned from the internet or just a warning


edit: the best way to avoid this is to have friends with botnets.
