Author Topic: What is up with people and spamming RTB IRC?  (Read 739 times)

Don't know if this is drama or not so if it is, could a moderator kindly move it there plz?

Anyways, more times than I can count have I witnessed mentally-challenged users spamming the RTB's IRC for no reason at all.

They get kicked, rejoin and continue spamming until they get kicked and then eventually banned. What motivates them to degrade their status in order to spam? Is it fun bashing your keyboard with your sticky fingers?

Of course it isn't, it must be some sort of brain infection causing them to forget how to communicate properly.

Although it's sort of confusing to see a user named "cooldude15627" constantly saying "YOUR MOM LOAL" and "asdnofaweta" for six lines straight until getting kicked by the IRC bot. What's their gain, exactly?

Ignorance and trolling aint pretty.

Ephi keeps claiming there is some kind of flood protection built in, but these topics keep coming up.

Maybe if there where actual admins on RTB instead of robots that ban you for flooding, this wouldn't happen.

Don't you get it, it makes all the cool guys appreciate how much they dare to do.

it has absolutely no point
especially since it's mostly 5 year olds spamming "OGM richard VAGINA snake JUSTIN BIEBER LOOK AT HOW COOL I AM I SAID ALL THOSE BAD WORD LOL!!!!"

Caps lock is sometimes used for emphasis, but BlockBot doesn't take kindly to emphasizing :(

Because it's funny when you're little.

There is rate-limited message sending. Too many messages at once will throttle the messages you can send for a while. All I can do is improve BlockBot's intelligence, and I have a few further ideas for that. I'll also be re-implementing the warning system now that there's room bans in place.

There is an intrinsic problem here in that I don't have faith in anyone who plays Blockland as regularly as would be required to effectively moderate a chatroom.

You all complain about this spamming but is it really causing an issue? I don't remember the last time I even saw a conversation in the General Discussion so why are you guys flipping out? I could understand if the spamming was interrupting conversation but that's just not the case. The obvious solution here is to remove public rooms.
