Author Topic: RubyQuest and NanQuest - It's like MSPA! But without science  (Read 3110 times)

As some of you know, I am a big fan of the artist (and apparent story-maker) known as Weaver. While browsing his tumblr, I noticed that he was also the person who did RubyQuest, a since-completed MSPA-like survival-puzzle-horror adventure (stuff son that's a lotta hyphens) that I had heard of before but never actually looked at. On my ongoing quest to ogle everything Weaver has ever done, I decided to read through it today. I finished a few hours ago. It's 855 "pages", and quite exceptional.

RubyQuest is the story of a (now, stay with me here) rabbit girl named Ruby that was done on the /tg/ board of 4chan. It's another one of those "stuck in a building" type adventures, but almost certainly unlike any you've ever seen before. It's a lot more fast-paced than other adventures like Homestuck, so you won't have to go a whole "chapter" or two to get into the action and puzzle goodies.

At first glance the art may appear pretty lackluster, but I assure you what it lacks in artistic complexity it makes up for with an amazing story.

Time to begin.
It's very dark in here.

Allow me to recommend an action.

NanQuest is another adventure by Weaver, which he describes "is the spiritual sequel to RubyQuest". It's being worked on right now, and thus you can post the next possible actions (see below). I've just started, but so far all I can say is that it's about a (again, you gotta just hang with me on this) goat girl by the name of Nan. She's an electrician/repairwoman. That's quite honestly all I know, and that's probably all you really should know because I'm expecting something crazy to happen at any moment and I wouldn't want to spoil it. You should probably read RubyQuest first, so you don't miss any references or valuable plot points.

Unfortunately, since NanQuest is not yet complete, it's still in thread format. This is good in that we can see all the command suggestions and reactions, but bad in that you'll have to scan the threads for Weaver's posts.

tl;dr -- These are good adventure comics and you should read them

Superbump.

Rubyquest is a great story, reading Nanquest now.

How can such messy drawings instill fear? D:

I can't tell if everyone already read/is reading it or if it's just that nobody cares because I didn't make it sound interesting enough or something ._.

Not sure if you're asking a preliminary question or making a comment about how the art is actually scary (it is at times)
