Futurama doesn't take place in the same universe as The Simpsons. Futurama takes place in our universe, but in the year 3000. There is an episode where they go to the moon and Fry finds a Bart Simpson doll. There is another episode, one of the newer ones I think, where the head of Matt Groening is in an interview and is asked about a Simpsons Movie sequel.
