Texture help?

Would somebody be so kind as to CORRECTLY make this pleasent fern's background transparent? Also, explain to me how :-P I tried, but it left a... residue.

Use an eraser to carefully erase all of the white bits.

You might want to use a higher resolution image. It looks really pixelated.

You cant see the pixelation in the wild :-P Plus its a stock photo... I couldnt find a better one :-P
