When I say Indian Epic I instantly think of the ancient scrolls of the Bhagavad Gita depicting ancient battles fought between gods in flying metallic fortresses.
When i use epic I refer to the intensity of its suspense, but that could work too.
It's still too broad of a word to use in my opinion but I get what you mean. I'm sure the definition "immediate" certainly fits the criteria better.
