It is all because of the moon's gravitational pull on the ocean creating large waves to smash into each other and more water was sprayed and vaporized into that atmosphere, in turn this generated heavy cloud cover which ended up in a deadly storm, the electrical output of this storm put out all signal receiving devises which caused the Steam headquarters which is centered in the middle of the pacific ocean to lose all power thus shutting down the Steam servers.
