Author Topic: Ask Jacob/Lee about his political views  (Read 536 times)

Boredom is a scary thing. Anyway, ask me about my political views. I may or may not be informed enough to provide a proper answer for some issues.

What's your opinion on a flat tax?

Romney
He's... Alright. I don't really like any of the political candidates right now, and if Obama wasn't a socialist then I would like for him to be voted in again. Everyone in our current batch is stupid.

I don't actually know what a flax tax is :U

A flat tax is a simple tax that is placed upon everyone. Say you are poor. Your tax is $1000. Say you are rich. Why, your tax is also $1000!

Also, What is your opinion on government run welfare?

In the base sense it's a standard tax rate (percentage of income) applied to all income levels not a fixed monetary amount in the way you provided.

Oops. What the hell am I thinking of then?

Yeah, alot of people make that mistake.

Government run welfare is good, if we have people who actually work. Someone who gets laid off can apply for unemployment and hopefully last until he/she can get a new job. On the other hand, we have plenty of alcoholics and crackheads that just sit at home and waste all their welfare money on drugs.

My argument, is that, before the days of Government Welfare (pre-1947) there were also poor people and disabled people and others of the like, and things like charities and churches ran the show. They helped most everyone who was actually disabled or ran out. they didn't get everyone, but that is still better than having so many people clog up the welfare system that the truly disabled hardly get anything because of lazy people who abuse the system.

Interpret that how you like, I'm not trying to force anything.
