How much improvment should I expect to see?
and
How can I check if the new one will be compatable with my pc?

To find out the improvement, just search for it on YouTube, and find some playthrough of Crysis 2 (A popular Graphics Card testing game because of its graphics).

Do you know if you have a PCI x16 Express lane on your motherboard?

A 560 will actually be able to play games, and well. There is a computer megathread though

I'm not expert, but I'm quite sure that is a large improvement.

Just according to simplified benchmark scores the new one is like 5x better than the old one. And they both use pcie 2.0 slots so it will work on your computer. The only issue here would be if you have the power for it from the PSU as the new one requires 3x more power and if you have a weak CPU the more powerful GPU might not make any difference at all.

There are videos based on graphics cards?

There are videos based on graphics cards?

It's YouTube, there are videos on everything.

do you know the wattage on your power supply?

There are videos based on graphics cards?

yes. there are also tons of charts like this one to compare FPS. look for "GTX 560" on that chart (not 560 Ti)

if none of that means anything to you, simply put it'll be a huge improvement over your other card.

I didn't want to bump this after two days, but how would I check my wattage?
What happens if I insert this into my computer and run it without enough wattage? Will anything break?

well just by looking at the 2, the 560 is significantly better.
i dont need to see charts or test vids to know it will kick the ass of the 220

Probably not.

your comp can likely still turn on fine. but the second you launch a game and the vid card cant spin up, the comp will crash and shutdown from lack of power.
not really damaging. just annoying

Wouldn't it need to be used to show any graphics at all? Not just games?

After looking at the videos, I really regret not getting the TI version.

vid cards dont use much power unless you open a game up.
the recommended wattage isnt the max the card is always using.

you could start a comp up fine without problem. but a game could suck just enough juice from it for a crash.
