if you're just going to make a plain background with normal text, don't use a prebuilt font. shape your own text.
look up a tutorial on the pen tool in adobe illustrator. it'll help you greatly, and you'll look much more creative.

It took you a long time to make that? While it does look like a nice font, I wouldn't think that it would take long, especially using Gimp- what I usually use.

I took forever experimenting with it, once I know what I want to make, it goes pretty fast.

- make the text last longer at the end before fading
- make your own text

the effect is pretty badass, the text and legibility just needs work.
