Author Topic: DVD-ROM Drive Cannot Play DVDs?  (Read 519 times)

Alright, so I'm on a different computer right now, and it has an older disc drive. The drive itself says, "DVD ROM" on it, so I assumed that it could play DVDs. When I put in a blank DVD though, it says there is nothing in the drive. Someone said to download the latest codec, but I couldn't find any.

Model: DH-52C2P(08C) CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive

Can this drive detect DVDs, or do I need to go buy another drive?

On their actual website, they don't even have it supported. loving Koreans.

Is it hooked up and the ribbons in a decent condition?

Get a new one. Your current one could just have faulty drivers or the reading laser/device is faulty or broken.
Unless you can force update the drivers and that works.

And yes, your class of CD drives is supposed to read DVDs. Any disc device marked DVD can read DVDs.

Also make sure your ribbon cables are plugged into the correct sockets.
