YayFun BSM
YayFun has been working hard to bring a service that will help you manage your servers better. This project was inspired by the lack of good control panels that really offer what I was really looking for.
So I've been creating what is currently called YayFun BSM (May be changed). BSM will allow you to manage your server anywhere in the world for free. This service is being created to help make managing your server, or servers more easy. You will no-longer have to go in-game to take care of a problem, players will be able to make reports in-game. The report will be sent to our database and then saved for your server.
Here are some, but not all of what's been planned for BSM.
| Security |
| We've taken steps to ensure the security of your server. When you register YayFun will assign you a security key which must match the security key we tell you to set in the options on your server. This key can be changed at any time. You may also IP lock your account if you wish to only be able to access it from one IP address. |
| Multiple Controllers |
| Unlike other add-on based server controls YayFun allows you to have multiple admins with permissions. This means that the user will only be able to do what you allow them to do. You will not need to worry about your server being abused. If you choose to allow others to have control you do not need to share your security key! |
| Not Limited |
| With the YayFun server manager you can control more than just your own server, but other servers as well. You're able to control as many servers as you have access to. Switching control is as simple as a mouse click. |
| Server Charts |
| Keep track of players, we offer charts to help you track how many players have played on your server within 24-hours, or even one week. You can also find out who the most active player is. |
| Remote Backups |
| Don't worry about losing your server builds! YayFun has a 1TB drive dedicated to backups, which is more than enough space! In the event of losing a save, you simply visit the BSM and restore the selected save. The save will then be downloaded to your server and automatically restored. |
| Downtime Alerts |
| If downtime is not an option for you then you can choose to be alerted when your server goes offline. We will also include information such as the amount of players that were last detected, and the time we've detected the server went offline. |
Now I'll provide you with a screen shot of what the charting would look like. This is only an example chart. This chart I've created reads brick counts.
F.A.QQ: Why should we use BSM over any others?A: Good question, we offer more than others currently offer. Think about it, who else has charting to keep track of players, bricks, etc? And as far as I know we are the first service to even offer a remote backup service like this for Blockland. Correct me if I'm wrong.Q: Why should I use your backup service, will you steal my save?A: No, I honestly have better things to do rather than stealing save files. They have no use to me anyway. Besides, anyone can steal a build just by joining your server and saving the build.Q: Whats this about a key? Do I need to share my Blockland key?!A: No, never. We will never ask for your Blockland key. The key we assign you is to prevent anyone else from trying to send commands to your server from outside of the control panel.Q: Do ports need to be open?A: Currently you're required to have port 28050 open unless you changed the port settings. For help on forwarding your ports visit portforward.com. Also, changing the port will help prevent other users from trying to send commands on the default port if they attempt to try to abuse the service.Q: Does this work with Kalphiter's hosting?A: Unless Kalphiter blocks ports it should. Although, if the port is in use then you will be required to change the port. I would suggest using this on your home network, or buy your own server. NFOServers and ApertureHost is a great place to look for hosting a dedicated server, or a VPS. I would have to talk to him about this.Q: Can I really use this anywhere?A: Yes, you can use this anywhere unless you have IP lock on your account. If you have IP lock enabled then you will only be able to login from one location. If your IP is always changing you should keep this disabled.
The only thing you would need to download is the add-on, you manage everything else from the web. The control panel will be hosted on a dedicated on a quad-core processor with 8GB of ram. If there is a lot of usage the server should be able to handle it. I'll know more after I launch a beta which will be limited to only a few users who join first.
Also, there may be an API available to those of you that host websites. This will be determined later on.
