It was a calculator file i think. I was trying to rip a screen-mirror software to the pda

I mainly use VLC for movies since it's music playing capability isn't all that good IMO.

For music I used to use Winamp, but it was so slow and bloated I switched to foobar.

VLC is good to have because it can open so many things anyway.

By default MPC can open 108 different media extensions.

okay neat

i wasn't meaning to say it was the only thing that could open stuff lol

Winamp. It's probably the best music player available.

Oh god no. VLC is a piece of stuff. Get the Combined Community Codec Pack with MPC.
So why is VLC bad? It works fine for playing pretty much anything? VLC has it's own rendering engine so it shouldn't interfere with codec packs.

I prefer the VLC GUI to the MPC one.

I use VLC or XBMC for movies and Spotify for music.

What's so bad about VLC? I've used it without any problems for over a year now.
it tends to play incorrect notes for M4A and MP3 files.  Ogg support is fine, and all video support is great.  Also, it's not a library style music player like iTunes or Winamp.
