Author Topic: Internet is being screwy...  (Read 567 times)

I need help.
So, about yesterday, when I came home from my grandparent's, my internet started up fine. It was working fine for about 5 minutes, then it wouldn't load the next page. This continued even after restarting Google Chrome.
I decided to do a Virus Scan to see if a virus was loving with my computer. Sure enough, there was a Trojan Horse in my computer. I deleted it, and rebooted Chrome. Worked fine for 5 minutes, stopped loading pages.
I decided to give it a rest for the night and go to bed.
The problem is continuing as I post. I can't hold a connection to anything internet related on my computer for more than 5 minutes.

I've considered going into Safe Mode to see if that fixes the problem, and am doing a Virus Scan as I post this.
Any other advice?

Try another browser to see if it makes a difference, maybe the virus just broke your browser.
If thats not it, try getting a fix it program.

Have you tried resetting the router?
I'm not sure if that's relevent to what you're describing, but whenever I'm having any issue with my internet it's almost always my router.

I attempted Internet Explorer not too long ago. That didn't really make a difference. Still crashed.

Although, now it's been 10 minutes since my internet stopped responding. Maybe it's been fixed.

I've tried that 2 times since yesterday, and it did nothing.

Ugh.

Yeah, restarted my computer, and now it's not connecting to the browser or any Internet content at all.

What anti-virus software did you use?

What anti-virus software did you use?
AVG 2012. It's pretty good, even if it's just the free version. Saved me from a lot of viruses.
