Author Topic: [Orch Strings Thread] It's been 4 years since I've gotten into an instrument...  (Read 299 times)

I think now is about time.

When I was 13, my father rented a Violin for me. It was tattered and old, but it played well and I began to learn. I learned a few basics and songs - until the rental was over and my father took the Violin back. He thought if I want to continue playing I should take up lessons. I refused, because the way I learn music is by ear, and self teaching, so that I can find my most comfortable way of playing. This is what I did. I learned how to play.

Tomorrow I'm going to pick up a Stanton 3/4, brand new. I don't care what it takes, I'm going to learn and I'm going to play.

I have also tried Cello, which I didn't exactly like that well. It was only for a brief time.

I also own an upright or "double" bass with a bow that I frequently use.

Any other fellow Orchestral String musicians on the forums? I know SeventhSandwich plays Violin (Or viola? Fiddle? not sure) and I do know for a fact that Eksi plays Cello.

I used to play the violin in fourth grade.  If you gave me one now I wouldn't know what the forget to do with it.

On a related note, I'm currently learning to play a not-even-remotely-orchestral string instrument.  It's a banjo.

My sister has a violin thats somewhere in our house but we cant find
