Virginia/Tennessee/NC/SC players -- Suggest me places to go

Okay, so I'm planning a vacation to places surrounding and inside of North Carolina, and I want to know where to go in it. (Preferably not beaches or waterparks, stuff like Carowinds/King's Dominion is fine though.) So forums, where should I go? July 27th-August 1st is my timeframe.
