In-game Steam overlay in TF2 doesn't work. HELP!!!

So, I had this problem, where when ever I pressed Shift and Tab to go into the steam thing, the steam overlay would be messed up! Before, It didn't bother me, like, "Yeah, The game is messed up, so if I need to message someone later..." But now, I need to buy something from the Mann Co. Store, and I can't checkout because it goes messed up! Can someone help me? Please Reply!

Restart Computer

Before doing these, does the steam overlay work on other games?

experienced the same thing with L4D2 under Windows 7 x64

1. I restarted steam, still there...
2. I'll try that.
3. I've restarted my computer multiple times since the problem started.

4. Yes, I tried Garry's Mod, had the problem, I tried Portal, had the problem...

Select the Local files tab and Verify integrity of game cache
