Author Topic: Give us back our sterio sound!  (Read 1717 times)

I just recorded using a program audasity, and then I find out that all that music was still in stero sound! so not only lots of other blockland music, but the music I spent so long re-recording won't work in blockland. So badspot, with the next blockland update, please give back the posabillity of playing songs with stero sound in blockland!

No, there's reasons i can't be bothered looking up. Just make it mono.

the reson isnt because badspots mean
its because the way the speaker is set up, it only i allowed to play mono

how would I make it mono? Also, in blockland 1.0 or maybe 1.1 sterio sound did work.

Yes but it's volume would stay the same from all distances.

The reason why its not stereo is because... let me put it in simple terms, its only got one Speaker, Stereo uses 2.

3d sound with stereo would have to be processed a lot more to calculate exactly how loud it should play each track for each "ear" (slightly left and slightly right) of your player, as well as factoring in things like panning, while 3d mono just has to calculate the distance for volume. The Torque Game Engine doesn't support 3d stereo, even if it was implemented it's likely to be a lot slower than mono because of the processing and because a simple setSoundVolume() and playSound() (No, they aren't the real functions but I assume similar ones exist) wouldn't work for two different volumed tracks.

Make it possible to have 2 sound blocks with same song on them right next to each other to make it sound like sterio?

I think that'd give a too loud error.

Music spam anyone? Anyway, just having 2 mono sounds playing at once doesn't make it stereo..

You can split the stereo track if you press the title  on the control bar left to the track. This will result in two tracks. Click on each of their titles and set them to mono instead of left channel/right channel. Now to finish up, remove one of them or keep both with a slight attenuation (-3dB per track usually does it) to prevent clipping.

Don't remove one of them because then you'll be missing some sound.  If you set them them both to mono and save it out it should be fine.
