Geometry Wars : Retro Evolved Problem (Steam)

Look...
I googled for an answer and didn't find one.
So anyways, when I start the game, it gives me an application error saying "Failed to find Steam" and then it opens up my default internet browser and makes my account say that I'm currently playing the game. What can I do to fix this problem?

I'm looking for an answer.
I had this on XBOX, and wanted to try this on PC.

try logging out and logging in

Sounds like a game where squares take our rectangles and fight triangles who throws ovals at the squares. And if it isn't I'm making a game like that because it sounds loving awesome.
