They still lose value. As newer models come out prices drop on old ones and the model line dies out. I get so many people who walk into my store wanting to trade things and expecting to be payed the same value as when it was manufactured. The most they walk away with is maybe 30 dollars of the items former value. And of course I turn around and sell it for slightly more, maybe $40 or better depending on what people in my area consider cheap.
