Author Topic: Will RTB be outdated if Blockland is fully integrated with steam?  (Read 1268 times)

Most of the features of RTB will be replaced with Steam's version of the feature.
Examples:
RTB Connect > Steam Friendslist
RTB Chatroom > Official Group Room
RTB Mod Manager > Steam Workshop

Only one I would really want to happen is Steam Workshop being integrated.

nononononono

what's so bad about the steam workshop?

So, I would have to get Steam just to get Addons from RTB?

Yeah no, that's gay as hell..

I don't have or want Steam.

anyways, on topic: i almost never use steam and RTB breaks my blockland so i don't really know how to feel about this

Not everyone will convert to Steam, RTB will never be obsolete because of Steam features.

You can already add your friends on steam. People still use RTB connect.
The Blocklanders group has over 2200 members and its group chat is rarely used.
I'm pretty sure steam workshop isn't as simple as "hey your game is on steam here have a workshop"

i still don't get it
what's steam workshop

Depends on the Game
For TF2 a place to submit items to be made into items for the game
For Skyrim/Civ V a place for mods to download.

Under this condition, yes. Otherwise, most likely the way stuff'll stay, no

Define 'fully integrated'
If you mean only buyable and launchable through steam, then sure, steam could replace the chat features of RTB.
But that's won't happen, it'll just be an additional way to buy/launch steam, so it's not something that we need to worry about

Will RTB be outdated?  No.  Same reason I put in the official Greenlight thread.  There are still plenty of people out there using Nexus Mod Manager for Skyrim or Fallout, even though lots of mods are on Steam Workshop.
