He hooks up his Gameboy to a device that lets him overclock the GB. This causes the audio to go faster (which is the most noticeable part, probably why you aren't seeing a difference) and the game to play quicker.

Hey, I have one of those FPGA boards he is using. I haven't bonked around with a Z80 processor but this is cool. I should tinker with some old stuff I have laying around.
