Like I said, we have very good missile defense system that will probably spot, intercept, and destroy/disable/prematurely detonate an incoming nuke before all of DC looks like fallout three.

And even the best missile interceptors aren't foolproof. These things can't be expected to stop every nuke fired, especially if you unload them in the hundreds or thousands.

A ton of the anti nuke missile sites are no longer used. IF the US was attacked by nuclear missiles it would probably be fairly effective.
