Author Topic: I've been selected to take the SAT early.  (Read 1061 times)

i did in 5th grade, it's what convinced my school to let me skip a grade
i think you should go for it

Duke? That's like 45 minutes from my house.

and here i am, failing algebra

i'm so bad at math :(

SAT'S are easy. I took them and made above average in all areas and the top 5% every time. You should do fine on them

If you do exceptionally well, Duke will send you a package of materials that will reference you to their website which will provide you with an advanced course of your choice. Its kind of cool. I ended up reading half of the Once and Future King in fourth grade but I quit cause it was hard as hell to read that English with the confusing plot.

If 8th grade: ha
If freshman: HA
If it's actually algebra 2: ok

I got an ACT invitation from Duke in 7th grade.

It depends on what grade you're in, unless its free. If it's free go for it. If you have to pay I would wait til highschool. If your school offers PSATs then take those, they gave me a really good idea of what the SATs would be and what my score would be. They're also pretty hard to study for because it's stuff you would have learned over years.

what the forget

I was the only kid in my SCHOOL who got a perfect on the 3rd grade Math FCAT

and yet no early SAT invites

Algebra 2 is usually taken sophomore or junior year, and then you take Pre-Calc/Calculus respectively in your senior year.

I act differently in real life than on the internet, but I did have anger issues and had to go to the principal's office frequently.

Don't worry, that stopped as soon as I went into middle school.

I thought you had been accepted to the SAS special forces early

it's okay. i slept through math all through junior high, effectively making it so i never took pre algebra / algebra and now i'm getting ~96% on my current mathematics whatever.

you're special.

edit: math isn't hard, it's just systematic.

you have to know the stuff before the current stuff otherwise your stuff is forgeted.
