Author Topic: Couldnt detect a device  (Read 2137 times)

I'm sorry if this was posted but i couldn't find any topics about it.

I got vista recently and I've been wanting to play but I always get an error.

"Blockland could not detect any suitable display device." I went and did the update thing and other stuff but I still get the error.  :cookie: for whoever can help.

What kind of video card do you have?

Well I have an ATI x1400 for my laptop. But the website told me to go to the computer producers website to find the upgrade. And I found it but I'm not sure if I found the right one.

Umm... Well... My computer kinda messed up when I tried a boot program thing. So I'm using my old comp for now. But I'll try later.

Thought I'd tag on here as I'm having exactly the same problem with my Vista laptop which has an ATi x200M graphics card. I only got it a few days ago but have updated to the latest drivers twice just to be sure but still get the error that Blockland could not detect a suitable display device etc.

Is there any kind of OpenGL software I need to download possibly??

Thanks.

Well my computer got a fan problem and when they were fixing it, they damaged my mother board. So I got a new one for free with vista. But It did work before the problem.

I have now solved my problem, and like everyone has said, it appeared I did indeed need to update my graphics card drivers which I thought I had done. It turns out Windows felt that the 2006 drivers were more up-to-date than the 2007 drivers on my computer so I had to install the newer drivers manually and suprise suprise, everything works fine!

So my advice to you, Jelly (especially as you are also trying to use an ATi card under Vista) is to check the date of the drivers you currently have installed for your card by going to Start > Control Panel > Personalization (Appearance and Personalization > Adjust Screen Resolution) > Display Settings > Advanced Settings > Properties > Driver, and check the Driver Date and Version to see if it is the latest available. If they aren't the latest then I can tell you what to do next ;)

It'd be helpful just to say what to do next for future reference, I think.

I did that. MANY times. Still doesn't work though.

Sorry, I did realize, just it was rather late where I am.

Jelly, a few questions, have you checked the date of the drivers you have installed? What drivers are you trying to install? and what website did you get them from?

And if you can tell me what laptop it is you're using I can try and find the right drivers for you.
