Author Topic: Portforwarding help  (Read 1704 times)

I have been attempting to portforward for quite some time.  And, in fact, made it to the last step.

However...  I type in what I need for preffered and alternate DNS servers.

Then I type in default gateway as 192.168.1.1

Then I try the two things above that... and I type it exactly as the diagram says.  But then...  I try to access the intardnet.. and it all fails.  So I cancel all the 3 top ones.  but leave the DNS numbers, and my intardnet works fine.

So my question is...  Do I need to switch the top three numbers?  Or do I need to change the top TWO?

Or... whatever else.

Thanks in advance...

OH yea, and here's the link to the link to portforward  :cookieMonster:
http://blockland.us/portForward/

set your ip adress at 1.192.168.1.45 (the 45 ad in the 45 on the port forward part. srt the subnet mask at 255.255.255.0. and the deault geteway at 1.192.168.1.1 also set the DNS sumbers to tat the router says. so you change all 5 of the numbers. thats what i did because the ip part was all wierd and stuff. tey forgot to mention it in the port forwerding thing i think or somthing.

there are several things wrong with what you just posted.

first off...  I can only type in FOUR numbers, not five.   for the IP adress, I would only be able to type in 1.192.168.1   and then I will not be able to fit the 45.

For the default gateway... same thing.

Oh yea... and, as much as I hate to be a grammer/spelling national socialist... learn to spell.

:(  I really want some help

Please rephrase your question using absolute names instead of relative positions.  When you say "the two things above that" or "the top 3 things" it is hard to follow what you are saying.  Which top 3 things?  What are they called?  What window?  What step in the tutorial?

whoops.  Yea, I probably could've been more clear on that.   :cookieMonster:

IP Adress and Subnet mask are the two 'things above that'    And then add Default Gateway to that and you'll have 'the top three things'

Step 3E  the last step.  I type in the IP adress as shown in the diagram, and also the Subnet mask.

Then for my Default Gateway I do 192.168.1.1  Because that's what I used to get to my Router's Admin Page.

Then I type in the prevered and alternate DNS servers.  However... either I'm typing it wrong or I'm doing something else wrong, when I get done with this... nothing internet related works.  Yes, not even the internet itself.

Do I type in the Subnet and IP adress as shown in the diagram?

i didnt read all the post, only the first one (lol). i just wanted to add, http://www.portforward.com/ will answer all your port forward needs.
