The tutorial is okay.

But this method is undesirable due to the amount of space each segment takes up in the Print menu.
A player would have to download each to see it. That's 8x the download time (if the print was only split 8 times).

Yeah, I know.  It does have it's downsides but it's obviously much easier than creating a new print brick  :cookieMonster:

I know nothing about .blb's, but don't bricks use dimensions for each vertex?
I mean, couldn't you just multiply dimensions for print to fit?

Technically, yes. But people don't generally like it when a print is stretched out of proportion.
Makes a mess with the pixels.
